La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Coral Springs South

This property needs a major overhaul. We’re Bonvoy members and expected much better from a hotel associated with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The Expedia photos don’t match reality, and at best I’d call it a $99-a-night place. We considered moving, but on short notice that would have meant packing everything and starting over, so we stayed until tomorrow, when we can finally leave. Pay more and choose a reputable major chain if you don’t want to question basic cleanliness and safety. Wyndham should reconsider keeping this hotel on its roster. The rooms were run down and dated. Stale carpet and marijuana smells hit as soon as we stepped off the elevator. Our ceiling plaster was cracked and peeling, the bathtub paint was coming off, and the doors were stained and badly painted. After walking around, the bottoms of our feet turned black. We bought bleach at a local dollar store, scrubbed the entry and bathroom floors ourselves, and the cloth came up black. They clearly hadn’t been properly washed in a long time. Housekeeping only cleans every three days unless you request service, despite the bathroom mirror saying sheets and towels are changed daily. After two days, we had to take our used towels to the front desk to get fresh ones. Noise was another problem. On day one, what appeared to be a youth sports team in the room next to us ran up and down the halls and slammed doors all evening. We complained; an agent came up and walked the floor, but it kept going. My husband finally confronted them himself. On day two, the desk said there was basically nothing they could do and offered to cancel our reservation if we didn’t want to deal with it. They said they had the coach’s number, though the coach wasn’t staying there. Who lets minors stay in a hotel without a chaperone? Breakfast was bagels, juice, coffee, waffles you make yourself, and boiled eggs that looked undercooked and as if they’d been sitting in water too long. There was no fruit or hand sanitizer or hand-washing station in the dining area. We skipped breakfast on day two, and by day three other guests were openly questioning whether the eggs were safe. On day three our key cards stopped working, and we weren’t the only ones with that issue. The listing itself calls the hotel La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Coral Springs University Dr, 3701 N University Drive, but the stay was a dump.
