Candlewood Suites Coralville Iowa City by IHG

Beware of the Candlewood side. The Avid side was fine, but since I arrived on December 12, the GM, Jennifer, has put multiple unauthorized charges on my room, totaling hundreds of dollars. She won't even speak with me on the phone about what I see as fraud by this hotel. They'll take liberties with your credit cards, so don't stay here. Plenty of reputable hotels won't rob you. This woman is stealing from customers!

I'm a traveling medical worker and keep choosing Candlewood suites because the rooms and staff have been consistently good. My latest stay was in Coralville, Iowa, and Abdel at the front desk made it better than I expected. After a long day at work, it's such a pleasure to see him. Thanks, Abdel, for making me feel welcome during my time in Coralville.

This is a nice, new hotel at a competitive price, and it's conveniently located for getting to the university and Coralville. The interstate is quite noisy, though. We left the HVAC fan running, which muffled it.

Clinton was at the desk when I checked in. He explained how the hotel works in detail, which helped a lot, and you could tell he really cared. The staff were friendly and attentive. I found the room a bit dirty, especially the floors and desk. There was no TV remote, but the front desk sorted that out right away. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious, a good fit for a night or two. Highway noise was pretty loud, and breakfast left a lot to be desired, but I still enjoyed the visit.
