Drop Anchor

We arrived to find few amenities, and what was available could only be used until 6, when the owners left. You can only use the resort amenities until 5 p.m. Parking was bad, the AC didn’t work well, and the view was of the top of a rundown camper. The place wasn’t well kept, maintenance was neglected, tiles were broken, and buildings were damaged in several places. TVs were tiny and beds uncomfortable. It wasn’t worth what we paid, and I wasn’t happy with the stay. The marketing was deceptive. The photos didn’t match what it actually looked like, and there was no hot water. They showed and promised one thing online, then gave us something different and wouldn’t let us cancel. We had to fight to get the room that was advertised. Beware, don’t book here.

It’s a well-priced hotel right on the beach, with an awesome location, a beautiful pool, beach games, kayaks, and hammocks. Just know that rooms advertised as suites are really studios. If you’re after a 5-star resort, this isn’t it. I’d give Drop Anchor 4.8 stars. Booking directly through their website will save you more than using a third party.

The location is beautiful, but the rooms are worn out. There are no headboards, so pillows slip into the gap between bed and wall. Without curtains, there’s no privacy. My AC unit had no battery, so there was no heat on a 34-degree night. The shower pressure was poor, and it took 20 minutes for the hot water to warm up. No thanks, there are too many other great options.

We caught fish right by the hotel after having a slow day out in the boat, and the location was close to some good restaurants. A few friends and I stayed here for a fishing trip, and it worked out great. The staff were friendly and helpful the whole time. While cleaning the room, they found an expensive set of headphones I’d left behind, told us right away, dropped them off at UPS, and shipped them home to me. 10/10 for the service and location.
