The shower was barely lukewarm, and its head came up to my neck. I’m 5'10", so anyone over 5'8" probably won’t like it. The room smelled awful, and the bathroom had black mold along the baseboards, grime on the walls, and a large broken-out section in the mirror. After driving about 12 hours, I stopped around 4 a.m. hoping to sleep for a couple of hours. I passed out, then woke up feeling unwell. I asked for a partial refund, since I had stayed a while and wasn’t asking for all my money back. They wouldn’t offer one, even though I’d paid $85. I’d sooner sleep in my truck with chainsaw, bar oil, and gasoline. Wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was kind of cute, and the AC was the one thing that really worked well. In room 104 it cooled everything quickly, stayed cold all night, and didn’t blow straight into the curtains or need constant adjusting. I can’t speak for the other rooms. The bathroom and towels were dirty, though I only noticed the mark on my towel after using it, thankfully on the side I hadn’t dried with. Mosquitoes swarmed me outside while I was trying to check in, making the process a hassle. The place costs far too much for what it is, probably about twice what it should, but it’s the only option in town. I paid $88 at 1 a.m. and was told checkout was strictly 10 a.m. I nearly refused the room, but I needed sleep. If it hadn’t been over 70 degrees, I’d have slept in my car.

It felt like paying $88 for a couple of hours in a room that should have cost $45 back in 1994. The place smelled old and looked like it hadn’t been updated since Clinton was in office. There were cigarette burns all over the tub and bathroom counter. Small towns seem to let places charge whatever they want. Maybe the money keeps those outside lights running, since that’s the newest thing I noticed. I wasn’t happy with the stay.

I called ahead because I was traveling with two small dogs weighing under 30 pounds together. They said pets were welcome and the deposit would be returned if there was no damage. Instead, the owner charged $28.50 per pet, with no refund. When I tried to explain what I’d been told on the phone, he kept yelling that each pet was charged and there were no refunds. Not listening and repeatedly shouting at someone is rude, even if you won’t make an exception. The photos also didn’t match my room, which was so dingy that it didn’t look clean, especially the bathroom. The mattress was comfortable, at least. I know lodging options can be limited, but I want people to know what to expect.

The rooms stank, the beds were rock hard, and the showers wouldn’t drain in either of the two rooms we tried. After we reported the first problem, he switched us to another room, but the bathroom switch there wouldn’t turn on. Each time we called for help, he gave us an attitude. He said we could get a refund, then refused when we went up to collect it. Awful rooms and awful customer service.
