We found The Amselhaus while looking for somewhere to stay for a family wedding in Lakeville. We're from Woodbury and have family and friends in nearby Kent, but somehow hadn't heard of this lovely bed and breakfast before. We stayed in the South Suite, with two beautiful bedrooms, a lovely bathroom and claw footed tub. The kitchen had everything we needed, and warm homemade chocolate chip cookies were waiting when we arrived. Robin, the owner, lovingly renovated the suite and was so nice to share stories about the makeover. Every room was gorgeous, and the porch was a lovely spot to sit and listen to the river. It's an amazing place, and a wonderful stay at a very reasonable price.

Robin's warmth made us feel right at home, and she was easy to reach with superb tips for local dining and activities. The house is immaculate and comfortable, with plenty of character and history. It has a really good energy. A hidden gem.

We didn't end up staying at The Amselhaus this time, but Robin was a wonderful host and innkeeper even before we arrived. I called about a room for my boyfriend, who was coming off the Appalachian Trail nearby in awful rain with a tornado threat. Robin immediately spent 45 minutes trying to locate him on the nearby roads. He had ended up getting a ride to a neighboring town, about 15 miles away. We really appreciated her gracious, kind help, and only wish he'd gotten to stay that night. We'll make a point of staying there in the future. You don't often find that kind of hospitality in the age of chain hotels.

We had a wonderful stay, thanks to Robin. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the claw foot bathtub was great for a soak. Robin did a beautiful job making and decorating this 200 year old building. She really outdid herself.

The hostess was pleasant and attentive, and close by if we needed her in a hurry. There are tons of great places to go nearby. The place itself is beautiful, historical, peaceful, cozy, and convenient.
