Budget Inn By Oyo Corpus Christi Beach

The backside room gave us a view of the ocean out the window, and we’d ask for that side again for another date night. The main downside was the lack of blackout curtains. The sun was blinding us by 7:30am, and I’d noticed at night that I could see the sidewalk railing through the curtain. My husband and I decided to go out for Valentine's Day and both have drinks, so I booked online around 7pm. We arrived at about 9-9:30, and the couple checking us in didn’t mind that we were late or tipsy. They even pointed out a few places within walking distance in case we wanted to keep the date going. I’d reserved a king, but none were available, so she put us in a queen room with a kitchenette. I’m sure it costs more, but they didn’t charge us extra. It felt like a little apartment and would be a great option for a single person or couple staying longer. The laminate floor had some moisture bumps and buckling, understandable by the ocean, but it was quite dirty and sticky, with dusty, crumbly bits that stuck to our feet. Not a deal breaker, but noticeable. The bed was firm, which I liked, though my husband found it too firm. There were only two pillows, soft and fluffy with little head support. I didn’t ask about extras, so I’m just mentioning it if you need firmer support. One more thing: even though we booked and paid online, check-in still required a $40 deposit. We paid cash and got it back at checkout. I’m not sure what the deposit was for, but that’s what happened. Great stay, view, and owners. We’ll return!

The beach is just behind the inn and stays open until 2am. Debra was attentive and very nice. The sheets had stains, though they had been washed. Compared with other nearby places, this one was more affordable, cleaner, and had a better feel overall. If we’re on this side of town again, we’ll come back. The other inns nearby are worth avoiding.

Debra seemed to be the only staff member there, and she was delightful, helpful, and accommodating. She also suggested a wonderful place to eat. The room was a bit small and just okay, but fairly priced. I could’ve done without the roaches.

The front desk staff were friendly, and the place was clean and comfortable. It worked well for a simple vacation like mine, with fishing and exploring, and a swim from the shore with the family. A great place to stay.
