Towneplace Suites Corpus Christi

Megan went out of her way to make things better for my daughter and me. We’re in town for Island Days at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, and we’d had a bad experience at another hotel. We mentioned it casually to explain why I was frustrated about having to call my husband to get access to our room. Megan explained openly that this step was for our safety, and it was one of several things she did to help us have a much better stay. We’re enjoying bringing our 🐢 Myrtle along and will definitely be back. At the front desk we found a fun way to earn more reward points. Myrtle’s first outing away from the hotel was to Sushi downtown.

Megan and the Manager made check-in such a happy experience. They were cheerful and welcoming, and surprised me with a snack goodie bag. Their kindness made my day. It’s special when the staff seem truly glad you’re there. The room was spacious and modern, and it actually smelled clean. The updated appliances and mini-kitchen were a big plus, with a stove, microwave, full-size fridge and freezer, coffee pot, plates, and silverware. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, more like a full hot meal than a standard continental spread. There were eggs, biscuits, sausage, breakfast potatoes, cereal, and orange juice. The room and service made this stay worth every penny. I’d gladly pay that rate again to be treated this well, and would choose TownePlace Suites over any other hotel. If you want a clean, roomy place with great service, this is it.

The room was clean, the staff friendly, and there was food nearby. But the building is very old, and we had a power outage during our stay. The sofa cushions had holes and hadn’t been replaced. The bed was unbelievably firm, like sleeping on a rock, and the pillows had no fluff. Both the shower and faucet leaked, including around the handles. The fridge smelled like old fish or something dead. There was no filter on the room faucets, so I guess they expect you to drink the chlorine tap water. The elevator was held together with duct tape, which was scary. Half the parking was inconvenient because the back door lock didn’t work, so you had to walk around to get back in. There was no drive-through carport area, unlike everywhere else I’ve stayed. After driving for about eight hours, it was a pain to park far away, walk all the way around the building to the front, then go all the way back to the car.

The kitchen-equipped rooms are really nice, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. I’ve had nothing but good stays at TownPlace Suites, even though my visits have only been for one night at a time. It’s easy to reach from South Padre Island Highway, and I’ll stay here again when I’m back in this part of Corpus Christi. The setup also works for longer stays.
