We found the room clean, even though the motel is dated. It took us a few minutes to work out the TV, but us old folks managed. There was plenty of hot water for a shower, and the mini fridge kept our adult drinks cold. The market across the street was a bonus. For budget travelers like us, it was worth the price.
Nobody was at the desk when we checked out, and the room was in awful shape. The bathroom ceiling looked terrible, the filthy toilet lid was broken, and a missing support under the seat made you slide to the left. The towels were worn thin and frayed, with holes in them. The TV had no remote and didn’t work anyway. The window was screwed shut, and its screen was lying outside on the ground. I have pictures. The whole place was filthy. The health department should come take a look. Don’t waste your money. You’d be better off sleeping in your car.
I only carried my mountain bike into the lobby during check-in because I didn’t want it stolen from my car rack while I was away from the car. The front desk guy was rude and said I was bothering other guests and had to leave it outside. If bringing bikes into the lobby isn’t allowed, they should put up a sign or something. Guests shouldn’t be treated badly for not knowing about a policy.
We asked for a handicapped room, but it wasn’t wheelchair accessible. It had a couple of grab bars in the bathroom and a shower chair, and that was about it. The website says breakfast is included, but there was none, and there weren’t any vending machines either. The halls smelled like weed, and the heater was extremely loud.
I brought my two dogs and appreciated that they were allowed. But when I stepped out briefly Sunday morning to take them out before a 7:30 breakfast meet-up, I left my phone and car keys in the room, and my key stopped working. There was no one at the desk. I waited and searched around for staff, tried the key again, and even asked a passerby to call the hotel. The front desk phone was so quiet it was barely audible. There wasn’t a bell or a number to contact anyone, and I waited an hour and a half before a girl came in from outside to pick up papers. She worked there, though not at the desk, and eventually let me into my room after I explained what happened. My key still wasn’t fixed, so I was afraid to go anywhere and come back. I missed breakfast and had to leave early. I checked the desk a few more times with my door cracked open, but there was still nobody there. I was even thinking of asking another guest to call 911 for a welfare check. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you have somewhere you need to be on time. It was a horrible experience, and I’ll never stay here again. When I first arrived Friday evening, nobody was at the front desk then either. I waited 15 to 20 minutes to check in, which was frustrating when I wanted to start my vacation, but manageable.
