Quality Inn Cortland - University Area

The bed was comfortable, which is the only reason I'd give the room two stars. The place felt gloomy from the minute we pulled into the crumbling parking lot. Inside, the lighting was dark, the carpet was worn, and there was a huge crack in a fire door. Our room had peeling wallpaper and cotton stuffed into the peephole for some strange reason. The furniture was ancient, and the hallway smelled damp and odd. For the inflated price, it was a real letdown.

There was mouse droppings in the bed and black mold everywhere. When I asked for a refund, the customer service was awful. Instead, I was charged another room fee, and I had to get my bank involved to get that extra charge reversed. This was the worst stay I've ever had. If zero stars were an option, this "hotel" would get it. Norman Bates himself should be working here.

The woman at the front desk was very friendly when I checked in. For the price, the place is decent enough for what it is, though it clearly needs renovation and some care. In room 110, I noticed a black spot on the ceiling. I can't say whether it was mold or something else.

It took three rooms before we found one with only minor plumbing or mechanical problems, and every room smelled bad and had peeling wallpaper. The furniture and carpet looked straight out of the 1980s. If toast is your thing, you'll love their "Hot Breakfast"!
