The room was still unbearably hot when we tried to sleep, so I ended up going to a relative’s house to get a fan. Earlier, we’d set the A/C to 61 on high and left for Walmart for 35 minutes to give it time to cool. When we came back, our key wouldn’t work. My boyfriend went to the desk, where the guy was nice, but he didn’t respond when we’d asked about the upstairs heat. The room felt no cooler when we got in, and after a couple of hours it was still the same. It may have been worse because our room faced the sun. We’d arrived two nights earlier and had to climb the stairs to the third floor because the elevator was out. The hallway was already very hot, with just one window open and no A/C running. The breakfast was pretty limited.

There were cockroaches in the fridge when we went to put our drinks away, along with stains on the walls and broken smoke detectors in the room. We asked the front desk for another room or a refund so we could leave, but they wouldn’t provide either and didn’t want to deal with it. At checkout, they said nobody had complained about that room before, then claimed they’d sent housekeeping to knock and clean out the roaches. No one knocked while we were there, and our dogs would have barked if they had. We were visiting family, but this was a horrible room and the management was just as bad. 0-10, do not recommend.

For a couple of hours of sleep during a long drive, this was decent for the price. I stopped at 5 a.m.; the room was clean and safe, though worn and dated, with some broken furniture. I didn’t use the shower or anything, just slept.

The King Deluxe Suite is the main reason I’d consider staying here. It has a whirlpool spa right in the room, which is a good option for a romantic stay since nearby hotels don’t have one in the room. There’s no public pool or hot tub here, though, and I wouldn’t expect a luxurious stay otherwise. The room itself was nice, and check-in was easy, but the desk manager required a $100 cash damage deposit. I had to go back into town for cash instead of putting it on my credit card. Breakfast was sparse, just waffles, cereal, Twinkies, honey buns, and coffee. There are enough restaurants close by if you want a better meal. It’s not a bad hotel, but I’d only recommend it for the in-room whirlpool.

The operators were really nice and went out of their way to make sure I had a good stay. My room was spotless, despite other people saying the rooms were dirty, so I wonder if that was under different management. The bed was comfortable, and the sheets and pillows seemed new. The room was nicely decorated, and the bathroom was big, with a shower and tub and good water pressure. This was probably one of the cleanest Super 8 motels I’ve stayed in. It’s near shopping and places to eat, and it’s non-smoking. One thing to watch for, the driveway can be tricky if you drive a low-clearance vehicle.
