Best Western Plus Newport Mesa Inn

The staff really made our family gathering easy. They went out of their way to help and even found us extra refrigerator space when we needed it. We stayed three days with our large extended family. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and cleaned well. Breakfast was good, and getting around to local attractions was convenient on foot or by car. We chose the right spot.

The fitness room could use attention: the treadmill didn’t work, and the elliptical was loud. Everything else made this the best BW I’ve stayed at across the US and Mexico. I was between homes for nine nights and needed dependable internet for my usual work shift and calls. The connection was fast and steady, and I slept comfortably throughout. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean, with extra bathroom toiletries already provided. I’d come back when visiting family in SoCal.

The lobby had cheerful holiday decorations, and there was free parking, which was a nice bonus. I was in town for work and wanted somewhere near the airport. The friendly staff had water and coffee available downstairs, and I liked having real mugs in the room for morning coffee. Everything looked recently remodeled and very clean. From the lobby through the room, the hotel was much nicer than I expected and had the things I often miss in hotel rooms.

The breakfast nook is okay, the coffee machine is a highlight, and there are plenty of snacks and drinks in the little market by the desk. Parking is free with lots of spaces, and housekeeping does a good job. Rooms stay exceptionally clean, the linens are decent, the beds are really comfortable, and the amenities are better than I’d expect at this level. It’s generally a well-run, solid hotel. Rooms facing the 55 can get noisy, but plenty of others are quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. Still, Norm at the front desk is the reason I keep coming back. He’s a real professional who looks after people from beginning to end and goes above and beyond. Honestly, without him I wouldn’t stay here. Give him a raise.
