The Westin South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa

The room was comfortable, clean, and welcoming, and the little touches made my wife’s birthday feel special. I’d called ahead with a request, and Vivian S at reception handled it from the start with real care and professionalism. Everything went smoothly, and her responsiveness stood out. The service exceeded what we expected, and we’ll keep choosing The Westin South Coast Plaza for future stays.

Raymond at the front desk made an already disappointing stay at The Westin, Costa Mesa worse. He was dismissive and uninterested in helping, and even simple questions got attitude and very little effort. Instead of trying to address concerns or make things more comfortable, he acted as though assisting guests was a burden. Front desk service sets the tone, and this was one of the worst hotel service experiences I’ve had. Management should address the professionalism and guest service there.

The beds were heavenly, and the restaurant’s breakfast was so good and filling that we ate there three mornings in a row, even though it’s only open for breakfast and has limited hours. Everyone on staff was friendly and smiling, and housekeeping came in to fix the room while we were out. That’s something hotels don’t seem to do these days. We found this place in Costa Mesa after Newport Coast Villas had no rooms, and were glad we did. South Coast Plaza is an easy walk across a bridge, with an amazing number of shops. The hotel can be a little tricky to reach, but it’s convenient once you know the way. Amenities were good, rooms average in size, and it seemed geared mostly toward business travelers. We were impressed and will return for more shopping.

The main downside for me was paying $45 for one day of parking. I wish it were included in the room charge. Otherwise, The Westin offered a relaxing mix of comfort and attentive care. The room was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully laid out, with a well-stocked minibar, quality amenities, and good in-room dining. The signature Westin Heavenly Bed lived up to its name and gave me one of my best hotel nights of sleep. Staff were very helpful, and the food and wine were excellent. There’s an inviting pool, a well-equipped fitness center, and elegant restaurants with fresh, high-quality meals. Breakfast was especially enjoyable, with lots of choices. An excellent 4 Star property in South California, and I’d recommend it for a refined, memorable stay.
