Seattle Airport Marriott

Otis in the restaurant gave such incredible service this morning that I went back to my room during breakfast to get more money for his tip. Mercedes at the front desk was phenomenal when I checked in, too. I loved her spirit and excellent customer service. We have another day here, and I’m sure the service will stay just as good. If you book in Seattle and skip this hotel, that’s your loss.

The front desk staff were genuinely kind and helpful. The valet, though, spent most of the time on his phone and didn’t seem engaged or useful. The gym is very basic, just a few machines and dumbbells, with no bands, foam rollers, or blocks. Fine for a quick workout, but that’s about it. In the room, the desk outlets were worn and loose, so it was hard to keep a laptop plugged in. The TV had a blue tint and seemed worn out. The building is older and has had a cosmetic refresh. Some parts look decent, but others feel tired, like they got paint instead of real upgrades. This Marriott is fine, but it feels like a pretty good snapshot of where Marriott is now: average rather than special, which may explain the low rate.

I wanted to pop into the hotel café for a coffee, so I parked briefly in the clearly marked 15-minute area. I explained to the valet that I wasn’t leaving the car there long, but he still wouldn’t let me park. He didn’t suggest any other option, and the exchange felt rigid and unhelpful. Having a 15-minute parking area that people can’t use for a quick visit to the on-site café raises real questions about the service and management. That one interaction left me with a very negative impression. I wouldn’t return.

The shuttle was on time and got me to the airport quickly at 4 a.m. A ride from the rental car center to the hotel cost $27 for the mile trip. The lounge was small, but the cookies were good. The hotel seems older with a cosmetic refresh. There were hair balls on one of the beds, so I just used the other one since I was only there to sleep for 7-8 hours.
