Vagabond Inn Costa Mesa

The staff were decent, but I was very disappointed by the room and wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The floors felt tacky, and when I wiped one with a wipe it came up very dirty. My socks looked dirty after walking around. The wall molding was cracked and dirty, and there were cockroaches in both the room and bathroom. I didn’t ask to move because another review said all the rooms were just as bad, and I didn’t doubt it.

Personal belongings went missing from my room, and the front desk response left me feeling unsupported. There was little urgency, no clear explanation of what would happen next, and no follow-up. The whole stay at Vagabond Inn Costa Mesa felt unsettling. People who didn’t seem to be guests hung around the parking lot and walkways at all hours, with no obvious security monitoring. There also seemed to be signs of questionable activity on the property, making it hard to feel safe, whether alone or with family. My room was in unacceptable shape, with grimy floors, surfaces that didn’t look properly disinfected, and maintenance issues that should have been handled before a guest was assigned the room. The place felt run-down and neglected. I left frustrated, uneasy, and disappointed. Anyone thinking of booking should consider it carefully and read recent reviews.

My first visit, after family and friends referred me, was a fabulous experience. The rooms were spotless, the service was excellent, and the location was great, close to lots of stores and restaurants.

This is an old motel that’s been run down for years. I stayed three nights with a friend and barely slept. A few rooms are slightly remodeled, but they still have roaches. Don’t bother asking for a refund, the owner will lie about things like a broken heater or anything else to avoid giving your money back. There aren’t as many hookers outside as there used to be, though there are a few homeless people. The roaches are smaller, so maybe they’re trying.
