The water was the clearest I’ve seen across the 8 Arizona lakes I’ve visited, or 9 if Lake Mead counts, which made it ideal for diving. I rented a kayak for the day and found the service excellent, with really friendly, helpful staff. The marina also makes a good base for scuba or free diving since it’s fairly central on the lake and not crowded. It was well worth coming out to see Lake Mohave.

We were on the lake itself, not the patio, grass, or BBQ areas, when we were told to move from the corner by the building because it was “reserved for resort guests.” This happened on a visit in summer 2021 with my best friend and baby. The lake is public, and unless the law permits it, management shouldn’t treat the lake and sand as private or bully people into moving just to keep resort guests comfortable. Since renovations are planned, I hope they update the signs and make the rules clear to visitors.
The campground could really use some TLC, and the parking lot looks a bit rough. The place itself looked much the same as it did the last time we came. We got there around 9:30 a.m. to claim a spot, and it was quiet, though it filled up quickly by 11 or noon. There’s a decent stretch of beach sand, and the water’s somewhere in the middle, neither the bluest nor the darkest. It can be a fun sunny spot if you want somewhere less crowded. I’d go again if someone else wanted to, but I wouldn’t pick it myself.
Ryan at the marina was the hardest-working dockhand I’ve ever met, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We had a blast, and the rental boats were worn, but both the sun chaser and the jet ski worked without any issues. The place is a bit run down, though. Cafe hours are limited, so you may have to go back up to Searchlight to get food. The rentals were worth every penny, but be ready to wait until 4:00 for check-in.
A quiet, peaceful place with miles of game trails to hike and shoreline to explore. The cafe being open for weekend breakfast and lunch is just the right touch for a lovely weekend. P.S. The sunrises and sunsets are to die for.
