Candlewood Suites Cotulla by IHG

I've been here four weeks straight for oilfield work, and this has been a miserable stay. The place is dirty, disruptive, rude, and unprofessional. If you're working days or nights, I'd avoid it. There are at least three other hotels within walking distance. On the third floor, where I spent my first two weeks on day shift, the dishwasher was full of dishes with dried food stuck on them, and there wasn't any detergent. No one changed the sheets, cleaned, or replenished basics like toilet paper, paper towels, or soap. The same trash, mud, and debris stayed in the stairwells the whole time. When my schedule changed to 6 p.m.-6 a.m., my company told me to switch rooms. After a 14.5-hour shift, I had to wait for another employee because the person at the computer didn't know where to put me, even though I had a confirmation number. Then I was handed a key with a warning that they didn't know if the room was clean, and if it wasn't, they couldn't clean it until later. I needed to sleep before going back to work in less than eight hours. The same problems continued. In the 116 area on the first floor, staff woke us up every day during the last week. They talked loudly outside the doors, played music from speakers on carts in the hall, and pushed carts with wheels that banged and clacked as if they were damaged. Today a group of at least 5-8 people ran, stomped, yelled, and screamed in and out of the housekeeping room for a while. When I opened my door and said people were trying to sleep, someone inside replied, "I don't care." I couldn't tell if it was staff or their children. I wouldn't spend my time or money here again. A normal hotel stay seems easier to find at any of the other nearby places.

Jesse, the maintenance guy, was a big help getting the television set up in my room. Highly recommend.

There were roaches in the restroom, under the kitchen sink, and even in the refrigerator. I also saw a large one at the entrance when I checked in. The front desk girl was rude, and the air conditioning never cooled the room overnight, so I woke up a little sweaty. The gym wipes were gone and there were no towels there either. This place is dirty. I have pictures.

Avoid this place. The staff seemed completely unprofessional, watching movies on their phones and leaving guests unacknowledged while they babysat children in the lobby. The elevator and washing machine were broken, the food pantry had no stock, and the floors and carpets were filthy. There was grime on top of the refrigerators and the dishes were dirty too.
