Lone Fir Resort

Lone Fir is a favorite of ours. The food and drinks are good, and the servers are consistently friendly and helpful. It can get busy in summer, so you might have to wait, though there’s outdoor seating. The owner has stopped to chat with us and pitch in on busy days. We love the restaurant and gift shop.

The staff were super helpful and friendly, and I even found a corkscrew in the gift shop when I needed one. After our group hike into Ape Cave the next day, this had been just right for a quick overnight. The room was modern and clean, with a granite countertop, tiled bathroom floor, comfortable bed, and nice, up to date furnishings. There was a microwave and minifridge too. I relaxed on the porch in a cape cod chair with zinfandel in a souvenir glass from the gift shop. Just what I needed.

The main thing I’d change is the bathroom setup. The bathtub is quite high, and there was no bath mat or hand bars to hold onto getting in. I nearly slipped, so having one would go a long way. I was in room 4D for just one night. It was a decent size, and the staff were friendly. The location works well for Mt. St. Helens climbs, Ape caves, and other nearby hikes. The restaurant food and service were good. I’d recommend the place and stay again.

Lone Fir Resort was a convenient base for exploring Mt. St. Helen’s. We stayed one night, and the room was spacious and very clean, with a nicely sized kitchenette. I’d recommend staying here.
