Fairfield Inn & Suites Omaha East/Council Bluffs, IA

We stopped here overnight on the drive to and from Colorado Springs. It was a good price for four people and had everything we needed. The staff were super kind and welcoming, and the pool looked well maintained, with towels and chairs stocked, though we didn’t get a chance to use it. Breakfast was free and had what you’d expect, plus a waffle maker and a range of hot drinks. It made the mornings before a long drive easier and saved us the $50 we’d have spent somewhere else. Perfect road trip stop!

I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels and chains while traveling for work, and the staff at this Fairfield Inn were the kindest and most helpful I’ve ever come across. They really cared about making the stay positive and helping guests feel at home. I’d recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

The staff are great, the rooms are clean and nice, and the food is awesome. What annoyed me was finding out the dryer was out of order only after booking, even though people depend on those amenities. They still charge you for it, which is frustrating. The “fitness” room is just a few treadmills, with no weights at all, not even dumbbells.

The staff were friendly, and the bed was comfortable. That’s about all I can say in the hotel’s favor. The hallways were dark, hot, and stuffy, with no AC, and breakfast was the last straw. My husband’s milk was curdled and rotten, and he had to spit it into the trash. The waffle batter tasted sour. The rest of the food looked microwaved and left in a warmer. I’ve stayed at other Fairfield’s and never been this disappointed. Spend more and stay elsewhere. Two stars only for the nice staff and bed. We were put in a cramped room next to the elevator. It smelled musty, had nowhere to sit except the bed, and barely enough space to open a suitcase. The room felt tired, and the layout was awkward because the elevator was on the other side of the wall. The shower pressure was weak and took ages to get hot. Behind the toilet the floor was dirty, and when it wouldn’t flush, I had to open the back and fix the float myself. At night we heard the highway and elevator. While packing, I found black mold forming in the AC unit, most likely where the musty smell came from.
