Holiday Inn Express & Suites Covington by IHG

The location is handy, near the highway and lots of restaurants and shops. Our room looked recently remodeled, and the shower had great water pressure. Breakfast runs from 6AM to 10AM. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes IHG hotels.

We picked this hotel for a leisure trip so my girls and I could explore “Mystic Falls,” less than five miles away. The room was clean and nice, with comfortable beds, pillows, and temperature. Staff were friendly, and we enjoyed the fruit, yogurt, and bagels at breakfast, though the hot items were the usual processed express fare. The bathroom sliding door wouldn’t stay in its track, but we could still move it open without much trouble. The bigger hassle was the keyless entry. We left our bags in the room and went to dinner, then couldn’t get back in. The front desk attendant tried alternate keys and several computer resets, and contacted management, but none worked. She offered another room, which we turned down because our things were locked inside. We waited in the lobby while she got approval to call maintenance. The maintenance man got the door open quickly using the same computer method, but the keys still failed. He said housekeeping would replace the batteries in the morning since he didn’t have the tool or batteries with him. That meant one of us had to stay in the room while the other went out, including at breakfast. Laven, a very nice maintenance man, came midmorning and changed the batteries, and the lock worked for the rest of our stay. I wish all staff, especially people working late without management or maintenance nearby, had the tools and training to fix this promptly. It seemed simple, and I’m confident the front desk attendant could have handled it in minutes with the right equipment.

Ms. Stacy was especially kind and went out of her way to help my brother-in-law and me with a tech issue. The staff are super friendly, and it’s a great hotel to stay at. Thank you for the kindness.

The price was very fair, and the room was surprisingly clean. I’m not usually one to stay at the holiday Inn, and the bathtub was a little old, but the room was as good as or better than the hilton garden inn. I’ve vowed not to stay at that one again, though I’ll give the holiday Inn another chance.
