Best Western Plus Deer Park Hotel & Suites

The on-demand satellite TV was a nice surprise. A few channels, including AMC, TNT, and SciFy, had movies, and the one we watched on TNT only had a few very brief promos interrupting it. The room we ended up in was clean, but we'd paid extra for a different room and were moved without being told at check-in or asked what we'd prefer instead. Breakfast was depressing: the hot water was room temperature, and most things, coffee included, weren't much warmer. Food choices in town were limited, especially on New Year's Day when we arrived, so Domino's was our best delivery option. Maybe staffing was unusually low over New Year's, since one maid didn't come the day before. If this happens regularly, management needs help keeping service on track.

After our flight was cancelled, we needed somewhere to stay. They were welcoming and accommodating, and let us use the breakfast room to eat after a long day.

I've stayed at a lot of chain hotels, and this was one of the best. The small touches made us feel welcome and comfortable. They seemed focused on hospitality instead of trying to squeeze out every last nickel. I was really impressed.

The staff are super friendly, but for $150-$200 a night the rooms should be a lot better. My company has stayed here off and on for a month, and several of us thought the beds and rooms were dirty. My first night I remember itching and wondered if it was the detergent. Last night, there were dirty Q-tips in the trash and a used bar of soap on the sink. I was tired and just wanted to sleep, but when I peeled back the sheets, there were pistachio shells. I found more on the floor around the bed. That's nasty, at least change the sheets. They gave me another room, but that's my last stay. Breakfast sucks too. Hampton is across the street, so I'll stay there from now on.
