Mainstay Suites Newberry - Crane

Michael and the front desk team are great, always ready to help with questions or problems, and the rooms are a good size with a really good breakfast. I’ve been here for two weeks on the extended stay side, though, and my toilet and shower still haven’t been cleaned. They do a deep clean once a week and a light clean about four days later. The person doing the light clean showed up as scheduled and did a great job, but the deep clean needs to be done properly. That’s the reason I can’t give it five stars, and the person responsible for the deep cleaning probably shouldn’t keep that job.

The hotel is pretty remote, with few restaurants or stores nearby, but it’s a great spot if you’re visiting NSA Crane. My family stayed for the 2024 eclipse and was thrilled with the friendly, fantastic service. Even with the hotel at capacity, the staff were incredibly pleasant. Special thanks to Stephanie and the whole crew handling breakfast, who also did housekeeping after breakfast service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND :-)

The staff were very nice, but the room was a mess. The shower was dirty, and so were the utensils and plates. There was dried food splattered on the microwave plate and walls. No hot plate, just one pot and one pan. Avoid a room by the elevator and ice machine, and be ready for loud air-conditioning equipment. Bugs showed up overnight, and one small mouse managed to get away. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and even checking in can be difficult: a confirmed reservation doesn’t guarantee the computer system will let you sign in. Rooms are cleaned once a week, and the internet is painfully slow, reaching 250kb only on a lucky moment, so don’t count on working or watching a movie on your laptop. As we say in Russia, the fish rots from its head. Blame the greedy management for all of this. Again, the staff are very nice.

The rooms are pretty basic, with basic cable and no smart TV, and the elevators were broken. For the price, I expected a little more.
