Wildwood Inn

After moving from California, our first night in Florida was at this pet-friendly hotel with my dog. We were both worn out from a long day, and the Wildwood Inn gave us the sleep we badly needed. The bed was great, and an attendant kept the front door open so I could take my dog out for a potty break at 2 a.m. I couldn’t leave her alone, so I got a burger and fries to go from the nearby restaurant, The Seineyard at Wildwood. The hamburger was amazing, and the fries were yummy. There’s also a place to charge a Tesla or refuel a car about two miles away. While walking my dog, I noticed what looked like an outdoor dinner area at the Wildwood Inn. I was too tired to eat outside, but it might be nice for people vacationing in Crawfordville. Come check the place out.

It was very quiet, and we were struck by how dark it got when we arrived around 8 p.m. We wished the sky had been clear enough for stargazing. The place also had more rooms than I expected, and there was plenty of parking. We loved it from the moment we saw it.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. There’s a small complimentary breakfast each day, plus a golf club and restaurant right next door. I also enjoyed a barbecue place down the street. Wildwood is fairly rural and about a 35-40 minute drive from FAMU/FSU, but it was a nice reasonably priced option during commencement in Tallahassee. I’d recommend it if you’re trying to avoid the seasonal price gouging there.

Everyone was kind, and we slept well in a comfortable room. Having the golf course next door was lovely. Breakfast could use something like bacon, though. Sausage every day got boring. Still, it was a joy to stay there.
