Hotel St. Nicholas

I was hoping for somewhere with a lot of history, and this place fit the bill, with artifacts throughout. The person at the front desk was really friendly, too. Breakfast was free and just enough, and the coffee was good. We tried the tavern in the building, but it felt a little small and enclosed, so I went back to our room. Great stay!!!!

Our guests noticed how attentive the team was and how thoughtfully they helped with what we needed. I hosted a group event at the historic Hotel St. Nicholas, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and clearly wanted it to go well. The hotel is beautifully preserved, with a fascinating past, and the rooms feel charming while still being comfortable and clean. It's a rare mix of history, hospitality, and genuine care. A unique place to stay with really good service.

We didn't spot any ghosts, though we did hear footsteps up in the attic around 3 a.m., which made for a spooky Halloween detail. My partner and I stayed overnight at the Saint Nicholas Hotel in Cripple Creek with our two dogs, and check-in was easy. The staff were helpful. The Boiler Room Bar has a great atmosphere and fits the building's story. The hotel is a restored Victorian building that served as a hospital during the town's mining days. The owners deserve credit for preserving this piece of Cripple Creek's history for future generations. If haunted history and a place with real character appeal to you, it's worth a visit.

The hotel is an easy walk from the casinos, and we had great views from every window. Our beds were spacious and comfortable, with memory foam mattresses. The place was very clean and welcoming, and the staff gave us a short tour with some fun facts about its history. It's an older building with plenty of charm, including lots of creaky floorboards. I worried our footsteps might bother whoever was below us, but it didn't seem to be a problem.
