Yearling Restaurant and Cabins

The food was really good, and the whole place had a great vibe. I wasn’t expecting so much history, books, and character, but it all made for an incredible ‘old Florida’ experience. Definitely recommend if you happen to come across this gem.

The cabin was comfortable, and I’d stay here again. We had dinner right after checking in, and Zoey was incredibly sweet. It was her first night serving, and she did a good job. Those fried green tomatoes were the best I’ve ever had, with perfect, non-greasy breading. We also got hush puppies even though they weren’t listed on the menu, and they were awesome, with a great batter and no grease. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits with his “very southern” sides, while I had the small fried shrimp. Everything tasted delicious, and even though I don’t eat fried food often, I felt fine afterward. I also loved wandering around the restaurant to look through the books and memorabilia.

Lunch cost a little more than we expected, and I couldn’t tell whether lunch and dinner had different prices. The grits passed my picky test, and the food tasted great. Inside, the rich wood, lively bar, and old books are a welcome surprise after the sketchy-looking exterior. We sat in the front, so we walked back to the restrooms and got to see the books and huge gator. I was tempted by the house-made sour orange pie, but chose key lime from Mikes pies instead. It was alright.

We make a point of stopping here every time we go to Florida. The food is incredible, and eating here is surprisingly affordable. Make sure to take the tour through the old property.
