Whitefish Lodge and Suites

We stayed one night because a friend was in town at a cabin. The night attendant was very friendly and helpful, and the room was fine, neither fancy nor dingy. Breakfast was a letdown. My husband went down at 6am, during the stated 6-10a breakfast hours, but the waffle mix wasn’t ready or working. At the front desk, he was basically brushed off with, “What do you want me to do about it?” The alternatives were limited to cereal, a few muffins, yogurt, and frozen premade eggs for sandwiches. The breakfast attendant eventually came out at 8am to work on the waffle machine, and had to be told the syrup jug was empty and the garbage was overflowing. It wasn’t a good experience. The location is cute, but in a small town with few other breakfast options, the hotel breakfast matters more. We likely wouldn’t stay again.

The water, trees, and open sky at Whitefish Lodge give it a calm, polished look that comes through beautifully in video. Whenever I film a wedding there for Complete Weddings + Events, I’m reminded how timeless a lakeside setting can feel. It’s a perfect spot for couples who want a wedding film that feels relaxed, scenic, and distinctly Minnesota.

We were in town for a wedding and booked here because other guests were staying here. The staff were very helpful, and the building was spotless. Our room was clean and well maintained, and the pool area was huge and very clean too.

The outdoor, cozy feel of this family hotel was lovely, and it’s within walking distance of restaurants, a park, the lake, and the dam. There’s a large swimming pool, a hot tub, a kiddie pool, and a sauna, which I love. Breakfast is included too. We’ll definitely return.
