We really liked the cozy room and the country feel of staying there, away from the city. The owner was lovely to chat with in her store, and her dog Buddy was a favorite. I usually handle our family bookings, and this time I accidentally reserved a room that was too small and listed only two people instead of four. She switched us to a bigger room and kept the price the same, which saved the trip. We also appreciated that there was still a Bible in the room. We’ll come back to see her and Buddy.

We brought our dog along since we couldn’t leave him at home that long, and it was nice that the place was so dog friendly. The room was clean and cozy, and the views were AMAZING. Sunny was kind, friendly, and very helpful. Even though we’ve both lived in Arizona a long time, this was our first visit to Crown King. We’ll definitely be back.

A sweet little break from the daily rush, and a great place to unplug and feel closer to yourself and nature. You can tell how much heart and soul the owner puts into the establishment. She’s a phenomenal person.

The cabins were dirty, with cobwebs everywhere, and we saw mice twice. For the money, they weren’t worth it. We’d stayed before without all these rules, but this time there was a 40 page book of rules and bylaws. It felt like we weren’t supposed to do anything but sleep, or she might charge our card without permission. We weren’t being loud; we were just trying to spend time with family. The owner seemed to watch everything we did, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were cameras in the cabins. I’d suggest staying or camping down the mountain instead of having a “crazy lady” watch your every move. We rented two cabins, but they weren’t next to each other. After we checked in from a trail outing, we were sitting around while our friends got ready to leave. The owner came over and asked, “you are all not staying here are you?” We said no, our friends were just getting ready to go, but we’d been sitting there for a while. Later, our kids saw the playground and went to play. When we started getting ready to cook, she came over angry, said they couldn’t use it, and said she charges $3500 a night for the area we were in. We asked if the kids couldn’t play there, and she said anyone who wasn’t a paying guest had to leave. It came across as very money hungry.

The internet connection worked great, and the owner set us up in the church/gift shop for our work sessions. We rented the place for a work retreat, and it was perfect. We also had a scavenger hunt around her rustic property, and there’s an area where we set up kareoke. The town bar is just down the road if you want food and a way to stumble back to your room. She also does wedding venues. I’d highly recommend it if you’re after a rustic getaway.
