The Crystal Manatee

The daily pastries delivered to our room were the perfect extra touch. We loved how comfortable the bed was, and the air conditioning worked amazingly well. The hotel is adorable, beautifully decorated, and super clean. Everything we wanted to see in town was within walking distance, including the shops, restaurants, parks, and waterfront. Free parking was a nice bonus, and the continental breakfast was just right. The service was excellent. My husband and I stayed two nights and both thought it was the best boutique hotel we've ever stayed in. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return soon.

The location is the best part. It's right downtown, with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance and water access just down the street. It's convenient for almost everything you need. The room was only okay. There isn't much space to store clothes, and the walls are so thin you can hear conversations from next door. The barn-style bathroom door isn't level, so it slides open unless you hold it or wedge something between it and the wall. Pretty annoying. The bed was nice, the air conditioner worked great, and I really liked the shower. Wi-Fi was spotty at best, though. I wouldn't stay here if I needed to work or join online meetings. It's a converted motel suite in downtown Crystal River, and that's what it is.

The place was fantastic aside from breakfast, and you can walk to all the attractions. The hotel was very clean and in nice condition, and the staff were great. But the continental breakfast is literally toast, bagels, coffee, and juice, if you get there early enough. There's a mini fridge with milk, juice, and yogurt, plus sliced breads and bagels in a bread box. By 8:30 or 9 on both mornings I was there, most of it was gone. Luckily, they hang a bag of croissants on your door in the evening, so I saved mine for breakfast. One other thing, there aren't any “do not disturb” signs for the doors. Keep that in mind. ;)

The shower was awesome, and the pastries they hang on your door are really good and a nice touch. Rooms were clean, with restaurants just a short walk away. The continental breakfast had a good selection, too. Becky and Stephanie were very nice and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend the Retreat at Crystal Manatee. Check out their gallery photos.
