Baymont by Wyndham Culpeper

The rooms were really clean, and I plan to come back again and again. The staff were wonderful, especially Amanda at the front desk. She was outgoing, helpful, and professional.

The breakfast at the adjoining restaurant was a real help: plenty of filling, healthy choices, both hot and cold, and the restaurant staff were kind. The rest of the stay had several issues. Our supposedly non-smoking room smelled stale, the AC was broken and loud, and a bright light came through all night because there were no curtains. With thin walls and exterior-facing doors, outside noise kept us concerned through the night. The charging station in our room was broken too. The breakfast hours in the marketing were misleading, which was frustrating since we wanted to get out hiking early. The staff were very kind, but for more than $100 I expected a more comfortable stay. This felt closer to a $65-75 accommodation, and a few simple fixes would make the price easier to justify.

Breakfast is always great, but I’m not sure I’d risk another stay at full price. This room was noisy and smelled awful, and the toilet ran constantly. It had been raining for several days, so maybe that was related, but the odor was really bad. We were told there were no other rooms available. I asked to hear from a manager and never did. The bathroom didn’t seem to have been cleaned, either, and I couldn’t tell what was going on with the outlets. I’m not impressed.

As a local, I needed somewhere to stay while moving, and The Baymont by Wyndham Culpeper worked out really well. The people there were genuinely nice and helpful, even by Culpeper standards, and breakfast was fabulous and free. There’s also a lovely pool. Some of the rooms have been newly renovated, so ask for one. Ours had a nice bathroom and vanity, plus a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee. I highly recommend The Baymont!
