Mayumi

The people who work at Mayumi are absolute gems. They were incredibly nice and made me feel welcome the whole time. Getting to and from the airport on public transit was easy, and the location was great. My room was clean and the bed super comfortable. I loved staying here and know where I’ll stay next time :)

The rooms and bed are on the small side, but we found them manageable. There are blackout blinds too, despite what I’d seen in another review. You just have to find the right button on the touchpad. We were really happy with this hotel for the reasonable price. The rooms feel new and clean, the place felt safe, and there’s a cute courtyard in the middle. The breakfast was much more than we expected from a small hotel: yogurt and oatmeal choices, plenty of fruit, a varied selection of good pastries, freshly brewed coffee, toast, and bread. Maybe some people who complained missed part of the buffet. Reception staff were nice, and parking on nearby streets was quite easy.

We found street parking without trouble, even when we returned after 8pm on both nights. We checked in Saturday and left Monday morning in December 2025. The location worked well for all our plans in LA and was also close to the airport. It wasn’t a luxury stay, but it had the essentials for a quick weekend and was good value. This boutique-style hotel has a few distinctive extras, including wine hour, rental bikes, a fire pit, and a shared lounge. The front desk staff were very friendly. WiFi in the rooms was spotty.

The manager called later to apologize and offered a 15% discount, but I was surprised when they applied it to only one night instead of the full stay. That left a bad impression of Mayumi and its professionalism. I stayed in June 2025 and had asked for a quiet room before arriving. At check-in I was put beside the entryway. The front desk said nothing quiet was available that afternoon, though one might be ready the next day. After I explained the noise would be an issue, they said a quiet room could be available if I waited an hour. In that room, the iPad controls for temperature, lights, and blinds didn’t work at all, and tangled cords were exposed. It was freezing. When I called down, they said there was no extra comforter, but someone could manually adjust the temperature that evening. The controls still didn’t work the next day. I had just one night left, so I let it go. The staff member I’d dealt with at first seemed impatient and mildly annoyed by my requests, making things more unpleasant. The person who helped at checkout was kind and professional.
