Palihotel Culver City

My first-floor room was so close to the restaurant that the only window looked straight into its dining room. It was loud late at night, with the restaurant restrooms flushing just on the other side of my room. The room itself was incredibly small too. The hotel is very close to Culver Studios, but I’d only recommend it if you don’t mind losing sleep.

The restaurant downstairs got noisy while it was open, but earplugs worked like a charm. The location is fantastic, and I’d definitely return. I stayed one night and found the room clean, stylish, and comfy-cozy.

A day after checkout I got an invoice for a KitKat and Haribo sweets I hadn’t eaten. I emailed to ask for an explanation and refund, but still haven’t heard back. That added to an already disappointing one-night stay and left me feeling the hotel was poor value, with unfriendly service and unnecessary post-stay charges. The room was dark and claustrophobic, with no natural light and barely enough room to move or open a suitcase. It faced the restaurant/patio, so I had to keep the shutters closed for privacy. It was so small I was glad I was alone. There was noise from the patio, restaurant, and bar, the TV channels were basic, and there was no creamer for the in-room coffee. $13 for a bottle of water also felt excessive. Reception was unwelcoming when I arrived, and checkout was awkward. The staff member seemed disinterested and didn’t ask how my stay had been. Breakfast wasn’t included, though guests get 20% off food. I ordered yogurt with granola and got barely any, maybe a teaspoon.

Janice at the front desk was kind and professional, and made checkout easy and smooth. The staff were lovely and helpful overall. The Pali Hotel in Culver City is a jewel of a boutique hotel, right in the center of one of LA’s best neighborhoods. Highly recommend.
