Empire Inn Cypress

The owners are a really nice, friendly family, and I’m grateful for their help. We stayed here for a while during a power outage, and the clean rooms had everything we needed, with lots of TV channels and plenty of space.

For a tight budget and just one night, this turned out to be a surprisingly good motel. I saw it had AAA approval and booked, expecting maybe a two-star stay for the price, but the clean, updated room was quiet and comfortable. The bed was on the firm side but fine, and the pillows were soft. I liked the rainfall shower and oversized towels, which were better than the Motel 6 quality I usually expect at this price. The bathroom had been recently updated, with Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. There was also a travel-size hairdryer with a built-in nightlight. Handy charging options were at both nightstands, including extension cords, multi-plugs, and USB ports. There were some things missing or overlooked: the tile/laminate floor needed sweeping, there was just one hanger, and although there was an iron, there was no ironing board. My room also had no tissues, and a plastic laundry bag for dirty clothes would have been useful. Still, for the money it was a step up from a Motel 6 or Super 8, and I’d recommend staying. We really enjoyed our stay. The family-run staff were very nice, and Booking.com offers a 10% discount. The room had a separate lounge area with a coffee table, and the bed was great, with a mattress that barely moved when one person got up at night. There are coin-operated laundry machines, and both the rooms and laundry area use card-key access. The location was convenient, two blocks from HCA hospital and near a nail salon offering pedicures, manicures, and waxing. The ladies there were all great. Restaurants and shops along Highway 6 are about five minutes away, and 290 is nearby, two blocks west on Huffmeister. We appreciated not having to deal with any blatant criminal activity. All in all, a great experience.

A really clean room with nice lighting, convenient outlets, and a pleasant color scheme. It had everything I needed: a couch, coffee table, desk, comfy chair, TV, and a microwave and fridge built into the entertainment center. The room was a good size for the price, and the staff were great. I don’t have any complaints, though a few more toiletries would be handy. I’m sure they may have more available on request at the office.
