The lobby was nice, and we spent a good amount of time there with family eating and watching TV. The indoor pool is small but cozy, though it felt a bit stuffy. The gym was clean and nice, and every staff member I met was friendly. The location worked well for us, with no issues. I made sure to park at the front because I’d read a lot of reviews about car break-ins. We stayed Friday to Monday, paid $410, and had a queen double room. It was clean, but for that price I expected the shower and tub to work properly. The tub was clogged and filled up while I showered, which I found gross. The stay wasn’t bad overall, and I’d consider coming back, hoping the tub isn’t clogged next time.

The first part of the stay felt like a typical Fairfield Inn, nothing special. I was in town for business and don’t usually stay in this part of the city. It felt isolated, with no real restaurants nearby beyond chains, and the area seemed pretty sad. My room was on the second floor next to some kind of awning or roof. There was trash on it, including a weed pen tip with drug residue still inside. The room itself was adequate, so I might have considered staying again if not for that. On my last night, people came through their windows to walk around on the awning and smoke weed. While I was getting ready for bed, my room started reeking of marijuana. I saw a hooded figure outside my window, which was very alarming, and then the person turned around. I called the front desk, but no one answered for five minutes. I went back to bed, but I’ll never stay at this Fairfield again. Guests shouldn’t be allowed to walk around a two-story roof, watch young women from outside their windows, smoke drugs that are illegal in TX, and leave trash there. It disturbed me that there was no security or front desk agent available to tell them to stop or move me to a safer room.

I chose this hotel for its affordable rate and proximity to my job during the recent Texas ice storms. It’s an older property, but the room was clean and I felt safe traveling alone as a woman. I’d be comfortable staying here again. Yarizet (I know I spelled her name wrong), the overnight receptionist, was amazing. She was kind, answered all my questions, and helped sort things out when part of my reservation was canceled because I checked in late. She greeted me each night when I came back from work, which meant a lot. For anyone visiting from out of town, I can’t speak to the car theft mentioned in other reviews, since it wasn’t a problem during my stay. The hotel shares a parking lot with a slightly more expensive property, and I hadn’t had any car issues when I stayed there previously. Security officers patrol both lots in their cars overnight. The location looks convenient on paper, but it isn’t the best part of town, so keep that in mind when booking.

I planned to stay a couple of nights while working five blocks away, but the icy, slushy weather over the weekend got worse and the ice wasn’t melting quickly. Russell handled my Saturday morning check-in and room preference with such a friendly, uplifting attitude. After one 16-hour shift, my feet were aching and I just needed to relax. I told Yara at the front desk, and she suggested a few things that made the stay feel like an extended staycation. I thanked her more than twice, and the rest of my time there got even better. Thank you so much, Yara. Thanks as well to the other front desk staff, Liz, Victoria, Aubrey, and Walter. You were all memorable and helpful.

I wasn’t expecting much at this price, but the place was really nice and clearly well maintained. The corridors were bright and clean, and even the stairway was well lit, which you don’t always see. The room was bright and welcoming, too. It had the basics I needed, a coffee machine, microwave, and fridge. Nothing fancy, but everything worked fine and made the stay more comfortable.
