I stayed four days with my family, and it was okay. The beds were good, but the food was always cold and the room was a mess every time. The housekeeper didn't come to clean it, and there was always a weed smell in the hallways. Some employees showed no hospitality. I don't recommend the hotel.
I never even got to stay in a room. A death in my family meant I couldn't make it to Dallas, and while sorting out funeral arrangements I honestly forgot to cancel. I was charged a $68 cancellation fee. Lisa Patel, the manager, refused to work with Expedia or me on it and wouldn't refund the fee. It was Valentine's Day weekend, so I'm sure they made the $68 back and more. The service, or perhaps just this manager, had no morals. I'm contacting corporate now, especially since I've seen Lisa reply negatively to customers in reviews.
The rooms are beautiful and clean, but I won't return after how the manager treated me. I paid $317 for three nights and was told the $50 deposit would be refunded. I don't have a bank account and was visiting from Colorado, so the deposit went to my Cash App. On the third day, it still hadn't been refunded. Cash App said the transaction wasn't left pending, it had been completed as if added to the room. The lady manager was the rudest person I've come across. She acted like she didn't want me at her establishment and had her housekeeper stop cleaning to help count the money. I didn't understand why, especially since the housekeeper couldn't speak English. It felt like she'd taken my money and completed the transaction with no intention of returning it. I told her I'd review her attitude. If she doesn't want African Americans at her establishment, she should say so instead of ruining someone's day. If she was just having a bad day, she shouldn't run a hotel if she thinks business will always be good with that nasty personality. The whole interaction was truly uncomfortable and uncalled for, especially when I was paying for multiple nights. I won't be back because of the manager who checked me in and didn't put my $50 deposit on hold, but completed the transaction, which still hasn't been refunded.
The rooms themselves were good, but the hallways had a strong smoke smell that made the stay unpleasant right from the start. There wasn't anyone at the front desk around the clock, and I often had to wait a very long time for basic help. When staff did appear, they weren't very welcoming. A hotel should offer steady service and a clean, comfortable environment, and this one didn't. I wouldn't recommend staying here until these problems are addressed.
The coffee was the main letdown. The lobby coffee maker wasn't very good, and the decaf was basically hot water. A better setup would make a real difference. The location isn't the most scenic part of Dallas, but being right off I-35 makes it convenient for getting around. For under $100 a night, the clean, comfortable, modern rooms exceeded my expectations. They're surprisingly nice and have the amenities you'd expect at a much pricier place. This is a budget-friendly stay that doesn't feel cheap, and I'd stay again.
