Courtyard by Marriott Dalton

I'm here for about 21 days this time, waiting to sign the papers for the new house I just bought. My last visit was just a weekend, and I really liked the rooms then too. I'm enjoying this stay, and the staff and housekeepers are amazing at what they do. To me, it's the best motel in Dalton, Georgia.

We were in town for a ceremony for our daughter, and the Courtyard team made the stay feel special. They heard about it while we were chatting over coffee, then gave us a card signed by everyone, congratulating her as we headed out for the day. That was far beyond what we expected. From the call before our visit through the front desk, coffee, and breakfast, every team member was kind and friendly. We stayed one night and will come back whenever we need a hotel in Dalton. Thank you, Courtyard Team!

We paid almost $200 for one night because the website advertised a heated indoor pool and hot tub. After checking in, we learned the site hadn't been updated: there is no hot tub, and the pool isn't heated. We're really disappointed, especially since we can't get a refund because of the false advertising.

My room felt cheaply refurbished, and the layout was bizarre. There was a lot of wasted space, the TV sat perpendicular to the bed, and even with its movable mount, the setup was weird. The furniture arrangement was so awkward that the mirrors couldn't be placed symmetrically: one was on the wall beside the bed, while the other faced you. I'd read that the hotel had been remodeled, but the room didn't make sense. It wasn't the positive stay I had here 6-7 years ago. I also dropped my rating from 5 to 3 after the new management stopped leaving free bottled water in rooms. The employees are nice and friendly, but it feels like they're pinching pennies at the customer's expense. Every other Marriot I've stayed at gives free off-brand bottled water, even without a lounge.
