Rodeway Inn Dalton

My wife stopped here for the night while driving home from Florida. Within half an hour of lying down, she felt like something had bitten her and sent me pictures of bed bugs crawling on the walls and ceiling. I told her to leave right away and notify the front desk, but they kept saying they weren't bed bugs. I booked her another room down the street at a different hotel. They are refusing to refund our reservation. I have pictures.

I finally got through to the manager today because I needed another night, and I was willing to give the place one more chance. After I asked what discount I could get for spending the night without heat, they offered $10. It felt like a slap in the face after nearly freezing, and I think I should have been refunded the full amount. I plan to report them to the BBB and try to get my money back. The heater didn't work at all, and when the temperature outside was 38°, the room dropped to 40°. My shoes stuck so badly to the floor that I wouldn't take them off to sleep. From outside the room it looked fairly clean, but stepping inside made the dirt obvious. I tried calling and got no answer. They apparently save money by having the owner sleep there instead of staffing different shifts, so you ring a bell and hope someone comes. I was already freezing and wasn't going to get out from under the covers to ring it, though it might not have helped because the toilets were busted. I don't know how this place ever got a two-star review. They don't care about people and seem to think money will keep coming in no matter how bad the hotel or reviews are. Lazy and incompetent would be a compliment. Don't stay here.

I booked a week ahead and arrived after 11 p.m., but the room wasn't what I'd requested. The sheets were dirty, the pillows were stained and had no pillowcases, and there were no washcloths, hand towels, bath towels, shampoo, or conditioner. Choice Hotels should revoke this hotel's brand. They shouldn't tolerate this, and there's no excuse for it. I wouldn't stay again unless my car broke down right in front.

The staff were friendly enough and the bed was comfortable, but the place felt gross and badly outdated. There was hair in the tub and bathroom, the tub faucet was broken and kept running, and somehow there was a dead cockroach in the freezer. The TV turned on but only showed static. It was a cheap stay, but I could only stand 3-4 hours before leaving because it was so dirty.
