The ocean view was beautiful, but we won't be coming back. The balconies aren't private, and a train passes often. We could hear the people above us walking around until well past midnight. It was so bad it sounded like a Riverdance competition, and we barely slept. We were on the second floor, and hearing upstairs guests is one of my biggest pet peeves. We'd booked months ahead for a family vacation and were excited because the pictures made the place look fancy and upscale. It isn't either. It's an old building with only a slight remodel, and our TV remotes worked when they felt like it. I'm sad to say we won't return.

The path from the front desk to the room is a bit of a maze, and reaching the beach across the road means dealing with stairs and a bridge. You could probably drive over and pay to park. The hot tub wasn't warm, so we skipped it. We had a nice stay and would book again. Our two-queen room was pleasant, with two separate TVs and one person having a whole room to themselves. The beds were comfortable and furnishings were good, though the hotel is dated. We had a nice ocean view, but the sliding glass door was hard to move. Breakfast was mostly packaged items, plus cereal, hot waffles, and fresh fruit.

Dear Beachfront Inn & Suites at Dana Point Team, I wanted to give management direct feedback about my recent stay before submitting a formal review. The visit was meant to celebrate a special occasion, and we'd already traveled several hours before arriving. Check-in was listed as 3:00 PM. I got there around 3:30 PM, but was told the room wasn't ready. I calmly asked for an estimate, since I had a confirmed reservation and needed to plan. The front desk response was that they had “no idea,” said dismissively and smugly. I asked again for even a rough timeframe and was told to leave and wait for a call. We were already more than an hour past the scheduled check-in time. When I respectfully pointed out that check-in time had passed, the staff member said she was “not going to argue” and that the hotel could refuse service altogether. I had been polite and was only asking for basic information, so this was completely uncalled for. Other issues during the stay: the hot tub wasn't working, the room smelled overwhelmingly of chemicals, as if it had been drenched in cleaning solution, the nearby train was extremely loud, and direct street access was blocked, making it inconvenient to get in and out. Professionalism, communication, and the guest experience should matter, especially when delays happen. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it to improve future stays. Thank you for reviewing this message. Sincerely, Ronald Jackson

Carlos, Dj, and Frank were top notch in every way, and the cleaning staff were right on point and as friendly as could be. Because of this team, I won't stay anywhere but the Beachfront Inn. I can't say enough good things about them. What an incredible experience. Do yourself a favor and don't change a thing about this place.

The location and value are a strong one-two. From the hotel you look out over a quieter stretch of the PCH and the Surfliner rail line to Capistrano Beach and the Pacific Ocean. For the price, that's hard to beat. I think it's an older surfer-style place that's been refurbished. The interiors are cleaned up and fairly new, though I might have liked more of the old surf-rustic feel, even with a little dust. The hot tub wasn't working, apparently because of some disagreement with "corporate". Breakfast was kind of lame, and service was friendly enough but lackluster. Those matter less when you're right by the ocean.
