The room was lovely, the bed comfortable, and the location works well for us. Prices were reasonable, so we'd stay again. Front desk staff were helpful, though management could do better. We sat outside at the Hat Tavern, which has a lovely ambiance, but the heaters had run out of gas. The hallway had lots of discarded room service trays, there was no ice machine on our floor, and the luggage carts were squeaky or difficult to steer and need maintenance.

The bathroom was small but clean, and the room had a cozy chair with a footrest and a nice swivel desk chair. The mattress was comfortable, but that paper-thin blanket made sleeping really uncomfortable. They need a thicker one. The shower has no door, so water gets all over the bathroom floor. You also have to step inside to turn it on, then quickly switch the lever to hot. I still got hit with cold water, which wasn't pleasant. Staff were courteous, and there are lots of conference rooms. Couches and armchairs are scattered around the first and second floors, though it gets extremely noisy down there when there are lots of people.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, and on their own I'd give them five stars. The convenience is a plus too. But the staff were so unfriendly that approaching the desk felt like bothering them. When I went to buy water, several employees were chatting and looked at me like, "ugh what do you want." They also messed up my reservation three times. I had to call back each time, and eventually went to the corporate office to make the changes. I can recommend the hotel for its location and rooms, but some staff badly need customer service training. Be prepared for rudeness.

The room rate was competitive, though the things sold inside the hotel were a little pricey. I'd return if I could get a room on the "dark side." The parking lot lights are so bright that a room facing them feels like a stage with the curtains open, and interstate traffic noise comes through clearly day and night. Maybe the windows need replacing. I was there for two nights while visiting Lake Compounce Park. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping was fantastic. Only two of the three elevators worked, but they got the job done. The pool is in another building and a bit of a maze-like walk away. It's small, but nice.

The staff were friendly, but seemed undertrained. This was the least appealing stop on a road trip with several hotel stays. The shuttle bus was there, but no one to drive it. My room smelled like cigarettes, though it was otherwise clean. Cleaning was a real problem. The bar top was never mopped during the evening, despite patrons coming and going, and dried residue from the day before was still there. The elevator buttons were gross too. The parking lot felt spooky to walk through after dark. The pole lights weren't on, and one bright light was aimed across the lot. I know it's an aging building, but that doesn't excuse the lack of cleaning.
