The worst part came near checkout: our key cards stopped working 45 minutes early, so after breakfast we couldn't get into our room and had to return to the desk just to collect our things. Earlier, we'd asked about checking in early and were left waiting without updates. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member and stay at Marriott hotels often, so I expect a certain level of service and cleanliness. At the Courtyard Marriott in Fort Lauderdale, communication was poor and staff seemed unprofessional from the start. The only person who was genuinely kind was a housekeeper, though the language barrier made it hard to communicate. Front desk problems shouldn't fall to housekeeping to make up for. The disorganization was shocking for this market, and the hotel didn't meet Marriott standards for service or guest experience. I won't return, and I'd advise other travelers, especially Bonvoy elite members, to stay elsewhere.

At checkout around 3:30 AM, nobody asked how the stay had gone. The woman at the desk just took my last name and room number and said I was checked out. An older woman did chat with me about my children, though. We usually stay at Marriott hotels, and they're normally interested in whether the stay went well. The first woman I met at check-in was helpful, even when her system went down. Things changed when we returned. My husband asked for the crib listed online. Staff said they had to wait for someone to come back, but after an hour with no call, he went down again. Then they told him they had pack-and-plays, not cribs, and those would probably be hard to set up. We declined, so we had to figure out safe, comfortable sleeping arrangements for our infant and one-year-old ourselves. While we were packing, a roach came out of an old-looking couch with a big stain and got into the kids' bag where I was packing formula. I was disgusted and worried they'd crawl into the bed with the children. My husband and I couldn't sleep. I won't recommend this location or come back.

Christina, the manager at Courtyard, made my stay start on a great note. She was welcoming, professional, and quick to help from the moment I arrived, making check-in smooth and stress-free. Her positive attitude and real willingness to assist stood out. It's rare to get such dedicated service, and she's a real asset to the Courtyard team. Thank you, Christina.

It turned out to be an okay place to stay, and the location is really convenient. The room and bathroom had plenty of space, with enough floor room to open our suitcases and still walk around. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. Our first impression wasn't great: neither TV nor one bedside lamp worked. We told the front desk, and they got all of them fixed quickly. The restaurant was extremely slow throughout the day. The person working there was trying her best, but it seemed very understaffed. That needs improvement.

The hotel is dated, and although our room was clean, it had a strong Bengay-like smell. We first stayed after arriving late, then left early the next morning without any major problems. When we returned from our cruise and stayed again, Ms. Michaella at the front desk made things much better. I wasn't feeling well and asked about checking in early. No room was ready, but she took my name and number and called as soon as one opened up. She was handling guests, calls, and check-ins by herself. I saw a guest curse at her, and she stayed graceful and professional. My first impression, though, was poor: I called from the airport about the shuttle, and the man who answered told me to call back after picking up our luggage. He didn't answer my question and hung up.
