Sheridan Hostel

Whenever I’m in town, I love staying here. The hostel has made a lot of improvements since my last visit, and I really can’t recommend it enough. The staff are professional, and the rooms are always clean and well maintained.

I liked that the people staying there came from all kinds of backgrounds and ages. It didn’t feel like the movie version of a hostel full of young European tourists. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and everyone was nice. It’s a shared room, though each bunk has a curtain, and they provide linens, a blanket, and a towel. There’s also a lockable locker for your things, plus a shared fridge and luggage storage. No complaints from me, I’d recommend it.

I spent five days there and never saw the place get cleaned. The bathroom was tiny and dirty, and cigarette smell seemed to be everywhere. It was also so noisy that getting proper sleep was often impossible. The towels were rough as sandpaper and about the size of a small face towel. The lockers were old, loud, and barely usable.

The outdoor space was pleasant, with good seating, and the Wi-Fi was strong. But the stay was pretty awful. My room smelled bad, and there were crumbs and hair on the sheets. I was worried by reviews mentioning possible bedbugs, so I stayed out of the dorm all night and moved somewhere else in the morning. The lockers were too small for a larger bag, and I felt concerned about safety from the beginning. I didn’t personally witness anything, but people nearby seemed clearly to be using hard drugs. It felt poorly maintained and attracted questionable guests, which may explain the low price.
