The Holbrook Hotel

The suite my mother stayed in was spacious and well appointed, and the property felt safe. It's a great location for anyone healthy enough to walk to the many shops and eateries. Parking was full when we arrived because a convention had booked there, but it was nearly deserted when we checked out during the week. This place is small and understated, without a bling bling feel, but they do things right. From booking a room for my mother with Chris to the easy checkout, there was professionalism and pride throughout. 5 stars 🌟 in a different kind of way. We'd definitely consider it again when we're in the area.

Over the two separate work weeks I stayed here, the friendly staff, well kept decor, and nearby places to eat made it a memorable hotel. I've been on the job for 3.5 years, and this was one of the stays that stood out most. The bike rental was nice, and the place across the street where you pick up your breakfast ticket was really cute too.

I only got the last room available online, a Standard King/Disability Access room, during a hectic weekend with the Martinsville race and a local casino event. It turned out to be a surprisingly exceptional stay. The old doctor's office has been adapted into a hotel beautifully. My one small nitpick is the sliding bathroom door, which looked like it had only one coat of paint on the inside. That was the only detail that felt out of place in an otherwise wonderful stay.

For a night before a race at VIR, this was a great place to sleep, half an hour or less from the track. It costs half as much as Hampton Inn and, to me, is twice as good. There's no free breakfast, but the room was cleaner, the bed better, and the bathroom spotless. It had a working Kuerig coffee maker, a huge modern flat screen TV with streaming services, decent WiFi, and a tall, roomy fridge and freezer. The kitchenette had a microwave and real plates, mugs and glasses. The shower had good pressure and hot water, and the lobby reception staff were super friendly. A hidden gem in Danville.
