Tropical Suites Daytona Beach

The room was tiny, with so much decor it felt like hobby lobby had exploded. We had to move things just to use the TV and end tables, and the only bathroom was so cramped I could barely turn around. The pull-out couch was awful to sleep on, though I know they're all pretty bad. The place also smelled strongly of mold, and there was black mould visible on the second floor. The pool and hot tub weren't available. We'd booked two adjoining ocean-view rooms, but were told we only had a one-bedroom. Then we paid another $400 for an ocean-view room, which was still a crap room and cost more than the two adjoining rooms we originally booked. They put us on the 8th floor of a 10-floor building, right where construction was happening. At 8:00 am we were woken by a literal JACKHAMMER just outside our door. There were no cars in the parking lot, so I don't understand why they couldn't put us on one of the other 9 floors. We tried to stick it out because my sister was visiting from up north, but after 3 days we gave up, even though we'd paid for a week. We barely slept on that couch and got woken at 8 every day. The jackhammer was so loud we couldn't watch a movie or anything. I added a video of the noise. Worst experience ever!

The views were amazing, the condo was clean and tidy, and the staff were really friendly. It's an easy walk to Crabby Joes if you want to fish off the pier. It wasn't very baby friendly, though. What really annoyed me was having to carry the outdoor key everywhere along with a separate key. Lose or forget them and they charge you. They should use combination locks and rotate the code each month, like other places I've stayed. The keys also seem like a safety vulnerability since someone could make a copy. I'd give the place 5 stars if the key setup were better.

We're looking forward to coming back in November for Thanksgiving with my spouse. This will be our 2nd stay, and we booked suite 1001 on the top floor with a beach view. Best family condominium on the beach!

Stopped by the beach to play in the water. It was fun, and the water temperature was perfect.
