Best Western International Speedway Hotel

The breakfast was unbelievably good, with plenty of variety like bacon, yogurt, eggs, and peanut butter. The staff were kind, helpful, always around, and even accepted my packages. The location was okay, but the area is dark and felt unsafe to walk in during the evening. The gym is a joke: it’s a tiny mirrored room with one machine that didn’t work properly and an old treadmill. I stayed four nights, and my room was cleaned just once. I also saw guests leaving their trash in the corridor.

The location was great, and that seems to be why they don’t care. There were no lights in the hallways and cockroaches in our room. When we complained about safety and cleanliness, they said we’d booked through Expedia and so couldn’t get a refund. They acted like that meant they didn’t need to address our concerns. I wouldn’t let my dog stay here. If only zero stars were an option. Run, don’t walk, away from this dump. They have your money, so why try?

We left Daytona 500 with our car towed and a $420 bill, after spending two hours walking through a thunderstorm to retrieve it. Parking was scarce, so two people from this hotel, wearing blue Best Western shirts, directed us to the grassy curb area behind the hotel. We also checked with a second employee, who said we were all set and didn’t need to pay. Dozens of cars were parked in the same area, without passes, and some were even in a spot marked private property, no parking. Ours wasn’t in a marked space, but on the grass where we’d been told to park. After the race, our car was gone. At the front desk, the woman wouldn’t answer questions and just showed us a paper with a phone number. It was for a local towing company, which said we had to get ourselves there and pay $420. Several Uber and Lyft requests were canceled because of traffic and high demand. Yellow Cab had no one available either, so we walked. The towing company said Best Western had told them to tow every car without a parking pass, even though the two employees who sent us there never mentioned a pass. The front desk employee had no answers, and nobody we tried to reach in person or on the phone could help. We were four hours from home, soaked, blistered, and $420 poorer. Best Western directed us to park there and then had the car towed, leaving us stranded and stressed. Employees need to give out parking passes when they tell people to park in that grass, so nobody else goes through this.

I’d recommend the Best Western and would stay there again. I accidentally posted a review meant for the Baymont Hotel across the street, which was terrible. Best Western was great: friendly service, a good breakfast, clean rooms, and a clean facility. The only thing that took away from the stay was guests having a little private gathering on the grass between their room and the parking lot. They weren’t playing loud music or being rude, though.
