OYO Hotel DeRidder Hwy 171 North

We booked two weeks ahead for a few days, but won't stay here again. The receptionist charged me and then yelled that we were liars because we had a Ram and a Ford truck parked outside. She said there was no way only three people were staying in the room with two trucks, and told us not to bring our belongings down because we wouldn't be staying and wouldn't get a refund. We tried to explain that we travel for work and bring both trucks, one of them a work truck. Our special needs daughter was getting flustered by the yelling and accusations. As I took her back outside, a man came to the desk. I understood his name to be RABADA and guessed he was the manager. I explained what happened, but he stayed quiet while the receptionist kept arguing. We decided to leave and said it was unfortunate, since we travel for work and might have recommended the hotel to coworkers. I called my bank to dispute the charge. When we arrived, an older white woman at reception had a cigarette in her mouth. We're not from the area and needed somewhere to stay. Before handing over the key, the receptionist asked how many people were in our party. We said three, then she followed us all the way to the room.

The service was terrible, and the room smelled like Doodoo. There was mysterious brown stuff on the walls. I lost my daughter after someone staying at the hotel took her for ice cream, but thankfully I found my sweet little Emily at just the right moment. There was also a creepy old guy at the side of the street, probably sniffing something. I'd stay here again to look for my old daughter that I found, but my sweet little Emily has such good memories here. I hope y'all never stay, I mean, I hope y'all do stay here. Bye, my besties.

The front desk staff made check-in and checkout courteous, efficient, and thorough. My room was clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the location was convenient. The price is hard to beat, and it covered everything I needed. I'll make this my local choice for overnight trips in the area.

For the price, it can do in a pinch. The fridge and microwave were useful, though the freezer was iced over, and there's cable but no local stations. You have to go to the office for coffee, and sometimes it's not ready, so you have to wait. Housekeeping only emptied the trash and put out towels, without even replacing the toilet paper. There was no phone to call the desk. Room 106 still had a hole at the bottom of the bathroom door. The floors didn't look swept or mopped in a while, the walls were dirty, and the sheet under the bed linens had a yellow stain. It took a while for the water to heat up, and there was no coffee maker.
