The Ranch at Death Valley

After a tiring day out, it was nice to have plenty of ways to relax without leaving the property. There are two restaurants, an ice cream parlor, a coffee shop, and open areas to unwind or take a walk. We ate all our meals here during our two-night stay. The property is old but very well maintained, and the grounds felt clean and green. We stayed in a comfortable cottage, and it had the common amenities we needed. It’s one of the few places to stay right inside Death Valley.

The casitas were comfortable, and sitting on the shared front porch with morning coffee was especially pleasant at the end of February. They’re set up as small duplex units. The location also makes it easy to explore Death Valley during a longer stay, with the gas station and Furnace Creek visitors center right next door. The cafeteria buffet was fine and offered a good range of choices, though for dinner you might prefer the food at Last Kind Words Saloon. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve. The gift store has handy breakfast and snack items, too. I’d stay here again for the central location and comfortable casitas.

There are plenty of places around the property to sit and take it easy, and the bed was comfy after a day of traveling. The morning buffet was yummy and set us up for the day. Getting from one site to another was easy and relaxed, and there are some easy hikes for older folks. Such a delightful desert oasis. We’d love to come back!

Dinner at the main Buffett was a highlight of my last three nights. Even when things got busy, Amanda kept making the rounds to check that everyone had what they needed. William was really personable, explained the options, and shared some interesting facts about the ranch and nearby area with a few other guests and me last night. The staff have all been helpful and friendly throughout my visit to furnace creek. This place really does feel like a desert oasis.
