Deer Harbor Cottages

We woke to birdsong and spotted hawks and eagles overhead, which was a pretty great start to the day. The room was cozy and clean, and there was a hot tub on the deck. The customer service was the real standout. The gentleman who answered the phone was funny, engaging, and a terrific face for the business. He deserves several raises!

We had dinner at the restaurant and really enjoyed it. The split pea soup had a delicious twist, and the Sunday chicken special was outstanding. Emily and Ryan were so friendly and provided lovely service. I'd give the wait staff six stars if I could. Earlier, we relaxed on the upper balcony with other guests, sunshine, and a spectacular view. Our lodge room was comfortable, with a good bed and a modern, well-kept bathroom that was sparkling clean. Breakfast was nice too, with cereal, English muffins, coffee and a maker, plus milk in the fridge.

The place is spotless and in a handy spot for Deer Harbor, with easy parking and pretty views. It's a short enough drive to the ferry, farms, and hiking trails. We couldn't check in early, but otherwise it's a great property, and the smokehouse restaurant is great.

Once we got there, the water and boat views were lovely, and there were candles on the tables as it got dark. Blankets were ready if we needed them, and the food was great. Carlyn was happy to answer all my curious questions about the island. Deer were wandering around as we left, which added to the charm. Getting to the restaurant was a bit difficult, and driving at night, or even in the morning, calls for care.
