La Quinta Inn & Suites Deer Park

The beds were really uncomfortable, and our room smelled. There wasn’t a hair dryer in the room, so I had to ask for one at the desk. The shampoo and conditioner were different brands. Though the place allows pets, there’s no enclosed spot where dogs can be off leash, which seems like something more thought could have gone into given the non-refundable fee. I didn’t eat breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. The person checking us in didn’t seem happy to be at work, though it was Christmas Eve, so maybe that was the reason. I won’t stay here again.

The bathtub was dirty when I went to shower in the morning, with used soap bars and hair in it. The Dove shampoo bottles were empty, and a dirty face towel was hanging behind the door. I found the room clean at first, after arriving very late on the 3rd floor. The elevator opened onto a strong urine smell. I was so exhausted I jumped straight into bed and left my luggage in the car. That level of cleanliness is disgusting. Get it together Laquinta.

The continental breakfast was very good, and the room was great apart from the mattress, which was quite hard. The service attendant stayed pleasant and professional even though she was busy into the evening. We’ll come back, but might bring a mattress topper next time.

We stayed a night with our puppy Molly while visiting relatives nearby, and I’d definitely return. The room had plenty of space, a comfortable bed, places to sit and eat, plus a microwave and fridge that we used. The bathroom fixtures looked a bit dated, but they worked. Breakfast was pretty good and had lots of variety, including drinks. It seemed easy to grab or put something together to go, as several guests did. We liked the outdoor spots for sitting, smoking, or relaxing, including a covered area with a BBQ grill. There was also plenty of space around the hotel to walk Molly. I’d recommend staying here.
