Club Lux Resort By the Beach

The room smelled of smoke and mildew, and there was a small puddle on the bedroom carpet. Most of the couch and both chairs were stained. The window handle broke in my hand and left the window stuck open. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve had. I’ve stayed in some bad places before without complaining, but we checked out and moved to another hotel. They refused to refund the next two nights, so now I have to file complaints. Stay away.

We’ve stayed at Club Lux many times, and the staff have been great every time. When the bathroom sink suddenly leaked, Flavio, the Houseman, came to our room even though he was supposed to be leaving for the day. He made a temporary repair and cleaned up the water on the floor, and he’s always willing to help with requests. A repairman fixed the leak permanently the next day, Sunday. Tamara, who cleans our apartment, arrives on time and does a thorough job. Someone on staff also noticed an issue in the apartment that we hadn’t seen, and it was fixed quickly. From the house staff to Clanci and Natalia at the front office, our requests have been handled promptly and to our satisfaction.

The location is good, with an easy walk to the main shops, restaurants, and beach. Staff were very nice and accommodating when we asked for towels and a sheet change after spotting a stain. The room was okay for the price, but badly needs an upgrade. The rug was dingy, the beds and mattresses very uncomfortable, and the furniture worn and stained. There was no dish soap or drying rack, and no hangers in the closet. The pool itself is nice, but its chairs and couches are old, dirty, and badly worn. The online photos look heavily enhanced with AI. Def get what you pay for.

The location is the only good thing. The structure is old, like many hotels in South Florida, and the pool was dirty. They used so much cleaner in the room that it was hard to breathe, and the floor was slippery from all the detergent. That’s nonsense. Don’t come here with family. To the hotel team: stop using so much cleaner. It’s overkill, and if you think it makes the place look clean, it doesn’t. It actually makes me wonder whether it’s being used to cover up dirt.
