Super 8 by Wyndham Defiance

I’m a Wyndham diamonds member and have stayed at over 75 hotels since January. I’d already checked my app and saw a $99.00 rate before the 10 percent member discount, but when I asked about rooms, the blonde, heavier-set woman at the front desk quoted $127.99. I said it seemed pricey, especially for this dump, though I didn’t say that part aloud, and asked whether my 10 percent discount would apply. She said they don’t do that there. Um, yes, you do. You’re a chain, not a family-owned motel. She was on the phone with a friend when I came in and acted like I was a problem because she had to tell the friend she’d be right back. In my opinion she should be fired. She was very rude and lied twice so she wouldn’t have to get up and type something into a computer. Pathetic. I highly recommend you don’t waste time or gas coming here. If it’s a heavier blonde woman at the desk, she’ll treat you like an inconvenience and charge at least $30 more. This place and her need a prayer.

The rooms were really clean and nice, and the front desk was extremely attentive.

We stayed from May 31st to June 7th, and the location was excellent. The hotel was safe, immaculately clean, quiet, and gave us a very good night’s sleep. We didn’t have much noise from workers or children. It was an excellent fit for what we needed. Mrs. Melissa at the front desk gave us excellent service and went out of her way to help with several situations. My parents are 86 and wanted a first-floor room near the lobby so they wouldn’t have to walk far, plus a king-size bed so they could sleep together. It wasn’t a big deal, though it could be annoying, hahaha! She adapted and sorted things out even though the reservation mistake was mine. Thank you for treating my parents like your own. The general manager or owner was there, and I asked him to make some changes, mainly as suggestions. Thanks so much from my 86-year-old parents and their 65, 66-year-old daughter 🙃

The only good thing was that the bed was clean. The pillows and mattress were trash. From midnight to 4 a.m., someone was outside with a radio playing and the bass thumping so loudly it vibrated the motel. It happened at random times over the next three days. Then the cleaning lady went through our bags. We didn’t have anything valuable, but still. At check-in we had to walk through a cloud of employees’ cigarette smoke. Inside, there was an overpowering curry smell mixed with stale cigarette smoke, despite this supposedly being 100% non-smoking. The room felt like an updated 1970s porn studio, which the condom under the bed seemed to confirm. We’d reserved a king suite, but the photos and actual room were nothing alike. The bathtub was stained all over with cigarette burns, the sink was cracked, and the carpet and tile were nasty with burns. Somehow the toilet was clean. The Jacuzzi tub had so many on-off switches it took three days to figure out how it worked, though we wouldn’t have risked using it with mold everywhere. The day clerk also refused to print my receipt and told me to print it at home from my email. DO NOT STAY HERE! We travel for work and are used to low-priced lodging. When I say never again, I mean never again.
