Courtyard by Marriott DeLand Historic Downtown

The mini fridge in my room wasn't working, or maybe it wasn't plugged in, and I lost some food I'd saved for the next day. Otherwise, the hotel was clean and well kept, in a handy location near downtown and the University.

It’s the only Marriott option within about 30 minutes, and it gives you great access to downtown DeLand's shops and restaurants. On my first stay, I had to try to kill a cockroach in my room around 3 in the morning. I've also noticed what looks like UV paint on the walls of every toilet in each room I've stayed in. I've paid for hotel breakfast with the room several times but never ate there, so I can't comment on the food.

We were in room 405 for a family wedding, in a corner facing the street, and our whole family was kept awake for three nights by cars racing, blaring music, and revving their engines. The bathroom was a mess too: the wall shelf sloped so products slid off, the shower corner shelf tilted so the soap slid out, and the shower flooded. One of the worst Couryards I've stayed in. We won't be back, and I wanted to warn others.

There are lots of restaurants within walking distance, and the rooms were updated and great. Just be careful in the shower, the floor tiles are VERY slippery.
