Comfort Inn Saugerties

When our food arrived, four cockroaches came out and walked across the counter. That was disgusting, and I didn’t trust the breakfast either, with people standing around in front of just a few muffins. I had to leave with my kids after teenagers smoked cigarettes and tossed a football around in the indoor pool. The place shocked me. There was an immediate smell of bad, sticky cleaner when we walked in. A trash pile and puddle of liquid sat in the elevator both days, and an outlet in the hallway was blackened. It seemed like a DSS-funded motel, and I don’t think I met anyone who didn’t live there full time.

We woke up to biting ants crawling in the bed and all over the floor. They refused to give us a credit and were absolutely rude about it. Unbelievable. $300 a night for that. Zero stars. Stay away!

Our room was clean, nicely updated, and better than I expected, and the pool was actually warm, not freezing like other hotel and motel pools I’ve used. We stayed a week, and every time we came or went, the women working there were busy cleaning and getting things done. They worked nonstop. They really made our stay. They were so sweet to my three-year-old and my dog, even though they didn’t have to interact with either of them. My daughter loved them, and I was impressed by how hard they worked. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.

We arrived around 4 p.m. for our late July reservation and waited an hour with other guests for a Comfort Inn employee to show up. We finally called the police because we were worried something had happened to the receptionist. We gave up and drove farther south to stay somewhere else. The hotel looked cleaner than it had when we were here two years ago, but we’re taking this Comfort Inn off our list.
